Magic is believing in yourself. If you can do that, you can make anything happen.

-Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Are you considering online therapy?

(Online therapy available to those living in the state of Washington, coaching includes outside of WA)

Online therapy offers access to mental health information to people in rural or remote areas, those who may struggle with mobility issue, for those who may have long commutes or have difficulty juggling multiple schedules.

Online therapy is usually convenient. Since you will be attending therapy sessions online in the comfort of your own home, you can often schedule your therapy sessions for times that are the most convenient for you.

ADVANTAGES TO ONLINE COUNSELING AND COACHING WITH ME

Customization: With large-scale online therapy platforms, you’re assigned a counselor. That counselor may or may not have the expertise you’re searching for and they may take a cookie cutter approach instead of taking the time to individualize a care plan for you.

Save Time: You won’t be wasting weeks and months on a therapy platform only to realize they don’t have experience with your concerns or worse be transferred to another counselor to start all over again.

Accessibility: You don’t have to leave the comfort of your own home. Online counseling and coaching is a good option for those living in remote areas, are disabled, are housebound, or are simply uncomfortable leaving home.

Confidential: Using a secure video platform all sessions are protected for your privacy, all you need to do is set up a space that you feel comfortable in.

Convenience: We can communicate asynchronously (via emails), we don’t need to both be online at the same time. Therefore, there is no hassle in setting and scheduling appointments.

Interactive: Allows you to pay close attention to your communication and reflect on your thoughts and feelings prior to it being expressed. This may be a particularly suitable way of communication for those clients who experience difficulty expressing themselves in words or in person. (Research suggests that writing or journaling during times of distress can be particularly helpful and assist in leading to emotional well being.)

Open Communication: The absence of face to face contact can prompt more open dialogue and encourage expression in more thoughtful, self-reflective, and insightful ways leading to an increased level of honesty.

Anonymity: The internet offers a level of anonymity that is perceived by many clients as non-threatening through allowing an ‘invisibility’ that can be disinhibiting and eliminate social stigma (i.e., not having to worry about running into your neighbor in the waiting room).

Affordability: There is no added overhead so the savings can be passed on to you. No driving, no rushing, no traffic, no gas,  and no parking fees.

More Immediate Access: No more waiting for weeks to speak to a qualified professional. After a 15-minute phone conversation and informed consent is signed, counseling can begin.

*If you wish to engage in online counseling or coaching you will be informed of both the benefits and limitations of this style of coaching and therapeutic approach in an informed consent document which is reviewed and signed prior to beginning therapy or coaching and formulating treatment goals.

Online therapy and coaching DOES NOT lend itself to crisis situations and a timely response. Online therapy and coaching are not appropriate if you have suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, or a serious psychiatric illness that lends itself to instability.
